Wii Backup - Copy Wii Games

How To Copy A Wii Game

Backup Your Wii Games

Each time you purchase a Wii Game it is an investment and you should protect your investment by making a Wii Backup or Wii Copy of every game that you own. Currently there are only two methods of backing up or copying Wii games that work. One method requires the purchase of hardware and the other method requires the purchase of software. The hardware option is commonly known as a Wii Modchip and the software option a Wii Softmod. While both methods are effective at backing up and copying Wii and other games we must stress that there are considerable risks using the Modchip and we do not recommend it.

Before you can make backups of your Wii games you must make sure that your computer can recognize the Wii programming. Your PC may not be able to do this without a special recognition program that allows your computer to read the Wii files.

Copy Wii Games

Once the program has been installed you have to insert the Wii disc into your DVD or CD drive which activates the program. A pop-up window may display asking you to download a program before you can continue. After you following the instructions it’s possible to copy the Wii game information onto your hard disc. This infomation can then be stored on your computer, burnt onto a different disc or saved to an SD card.

Burn Wii Games

When the information has been burned you should remove the Wii disc. Before it is possible to play the game that has been backed up it is necessary to modify the hardware in your Wii Console. As mentoned earlier the two methods are Wii Modchip or Wii Softmod. We do not recommend Wii Modchip as it involves opening your Wii Console and placing a chip inside and this will invalidate your warranty. The Wii Softmod option does not involve opening the console and your warranty is protected. You can read our review and download our favourite softmod product on the Easy Backup Wizard Review page.

When you have finished copying the game just insert it into your Wii and restart. You will now be able to select the disc channel and load the Wii Backup you have made of your game.
